McDonald’s Corp. says it has no plans to recall “Minions” Happy Meals toys that some parents say curse.
McDonald’s said it began fielding a small number of complaints after the movie promotion began July 3. Some consumers took to social media and posted videos online posing the question: Is this McDonald’s toy swearing?
Some of the videos have been widely watched on YouTube. One already has more than 1 million views.
McDonald’s said the toy does not say anything profane and the company regrets any confusion or offense to those who may have misinterpreted the sounds.
The toy coming under scrutiny is the minion Caveman. According to McDonald’s, the toy plays three sounds: “para la bukay,” “hahaha” and “eh eh.”
The toys will be available to consumers through July at McDonald’s around the world.
