Filmmakers inspired by Leonard Cohen at the Hammer Museum

If Leonard Cohen’s oft-covered song, “Hallelujah,” is any indication, the legendary folk singer-songwriter has a whole body of work that’s ripe for reinterpretation and invention. Curated by Lorca Cohen and Darin Klein, this event at the Hammer showcases the works of a select group of filmmakers who used his 1974 album, “New Skin for the Old Ceremony,” as a jumping off point. The works of the artists, including Theo Angell, Lucky Dragons, Weston Currie and Tina Tyrell, dovetail with the work, illustrating it from start to finish. 8 p.m. Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd. (310) 443-7000.
