Check floor mats after a carwash

Re: “Toyota plans massive recall,” Sept. 30:

Carwashes’ practice of removing floor mats for cleaning may be why some mats move forward and jam accelerator pedals. My Toyota’s floor mats normally are prevented from moving forward by two clips mounted on the floor that insert through holes in the mats.

In my experience, carwash employees, in their haste, sometimes do not reinsert the clips through the holes. Worse, sometimes when they remove the mats, they rip the clips out of the floor and lose or discard them. It’s wise to check before leaving the carwash.
