A man was charged Friday with attempted murder after a shooting in Long Beach on Wednesday in which a 4-year-old boy was struck in the head by a stray bullet, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
James Leland Landrum Sr., 46, was arrested Friday morning in El Paso, Texas, and charged with the attempted murder of the boy -- identified only as Josue H.-- his 6-year-old sister and three others.
Prosecutors said they would seek Landrum’s extradition to Los Angeles for arraignment and trial.
Prosecutors said Landrum had been arguing in the street with another man when he pulled out a gun and fired once. The bullet missed the intended target but struck Josue, prosecutors said. The boy was in stable condition.
