A suicide attacker detonated a car bomb near an African Union peacekeepers’ base in Mogadishu, killing 14 people.
The bombing came days before the planned deployment of Ugandan and Burundian soldiers to beef up the peacekeeping contingent. Most of southern and central Somalia is held by Islamic insurgents.
Mayor Mohammed Osman Ali said it was unclear who was behind the attack.
