A mudslide destroyed a home in Lake Oswego, briefly trapping its occupants, as flooding, mud and snow from the latest winter storm blocked roads in the Northwest.
The residents called 911 after mud filled the first floor of their home. They escaped out a window, Deputy Fire Marshal Gert Zoutendijk said.
Authorities said 21 nearby homes were evacuated.
Outside Portland in Clackamas County, about 30 families were evacuated because of flooding and about 60 roads were closed. Snow fell in eastern Washington and northern Idaho.
