Center Theatre Group will postpone its production of Martin McDonagh’s “The Lieutenant of Inishmore,” a victim of the economy.
Rather than name a replacement production, the Taper will go dark after David Mamet’s “Oleanna” closes in July.
“This is a decision that fits the economic times we’re all going through,” CTG artistic director Michael Ritchie said in a statement Tuesday, adding that “we should also make it clear that CTG is not in financial trouble. This is a stable organization and we are planning ahead to make sure that we keep it that way.”
“Inishmore” will move to the Taper’s 2010 season.
