Irvine Co. lays off 100 employees

Irvine Co. has laid off 100 of its more than 3,000 employees, blaming a weak economy and declining land sales.
The layoffs are the first in 16 years for the Newport Beach-based land developer, Orange County’s largest landowner. Irvine Co. Vice President John Christensen called the decision “painful.”
