No. 8 Stanford takes care of business, 60-53

From the Associated Press

Brook Lopez might have played his final college game at Stanford’s Maples Pavilion, and he made it a good one.

Lopez scored 19 of his 25 points after halftime, pulled down six rebounds and helped No. 8 Stanford keep alive its hopes of a Pacific 10 Conference title with a 60-53 victory over No. 22 Washington State on Saturday.

Lopez, a 7-foot sophomore who is expected to make himself available for the NBA draft, also had four blocks. He dunked with 2:52 to play to give the Cardinal the lead for good and then made two free throws with 1:39 left.

Stanford’s sixth win in seven games sets up a showdown with first-place and fourth-ranked UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Thursday night with the conference title at stake.

Robin Lopez had 11 points and four rebounds and Anthony Goods scored 10 points for the Cardinal (24-4, 13-3), which earned its sixth consecutive win at home since a 76-67 loss to UCLA on Jan. 3.

The Cougars (22-7, 10-7) had won five of six since a three-game skid that included a 67-65 defeat to Stanford at Friel Court in Pullman, Wash.
