The driver of a BMW that crashed into two cars, killing the driver and passenger of one, pleaded not guilty Monday to two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Carlos Steven John, 21, of Granada Hills, appeared in Los Angeles County Superior Court with a cast on his right arm from injuries he sustained in the accident.
John was street racing with another BMW in Hollywood just after 4 a.m. Dec. 29, police said. He was driving about 60 mph when his BMW hit two cars trying to turn south onto Highland Avenue from Sunset Boulevard.
