* Seattle 8, at Oakland 1: Carlos Silva (3-0) gave up one run and four hits in seven innings, struck out one and walked two. Jose Vidro hit a two-run single in the Mariners’ five-run third against Lenny DiNardo (1-1). Seattle won its third in a row and sent the Athletics to their first three-game losing streak.
* at Cleveland 11, Detroit 1: Fausto Carmona (2-1) gave up a run in 6 2/3 innings and Ryan Garko and Travis Hafner hit two-run home runs. Tigers right-hander Justin Verlander remained winless in four starts, falling to 0-3. The loss ended Detroit’s season-high three-game winning streak.
* at Baltimore 6, Chicago 5 (10 innings): Adam Jones singled in the game-winning run, helping the Orioles rally from a 5-2 deficit in the eighth to split the two-game series. Carlos Quentin hit two homers and Joe Crede also connected for the White Sox, now 9-1 when leading after eight innings.
* Texas 4, at Toronto 1: Vicente Padilla (2-1) pitched seven strong innings, Ian Kinsler had three hits and the Rangers handed the Blue Jays their fifth home loss in a row. Texas outfielder David Murphy went three for four with three doubles. He scored twice and drove in a run and the Rangers won their second in a row after a five-game losing streak.
* Tampa Bay 7, at Minnesota 3: Jason Hammel (1-1) gave up six hits, three runs and struck out five to help the Rays end a three-game losing streak. Nathan Haynes’ single keyed a four-run rally in the fifth.
* Boston 7, at New York 5: Manny Ramirez hit two home runs off an ineffective Mike Mussina (1-3).
* at Angels 5, Kansas City 3: Garret Anderson doubled in three runs to lead the Angels.
