Victims of deadly pileup in sandstorm identified

Two Tehachapi men were identified Wednesday as the motorists killed in one of three multiple-vehicle pileups during a blinding sandstorm on the Antelope Valley Freeway.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Lars Oberg, 72, the driver of a Honda sedan, and passenger Ova Crawford, 70, had died. Authorities said the pileups occurred within minutes of one other on the northbound 14 Freeway at Avenue B in Lancaster shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Fifteen vehicles, four of them big rigs, were involved.
