A controversial member of the lower house of Afghanistan’s parliament was removed from office after she called the house “worse than a stable.”
A videotape of the interview in which Malalai Joya made the remark was shown before most delegates voted for her ouster.
“A stable is better, for there you have a donkey that carries a load and a cow that provides milk. The parliament is worse than a stable,” she said.
The 28-year-old women’s rights activist is reasonably well known at home, and got noticed in Western capitals when she spoke against some warlords.
