* at Texas 3, Toronto 2: The first pitch Michael Young saw in his last at-bat was an elevated fastball. He didn’t miss and the Rangers got their first series sweep of the season. Young’s one-out homer in the eighth inning was the Rangers’ third solo shot against A.J. Burnett.

* at New York 5, Seattle 0: Darrell Rasner, who limited the Mariners to three hits in his 5 2/3 innings, threw first-pitch strikes to 15 of the first 18 batters and 17 of 22 overall. Mariners reliever Julio Mateo was suspended for 10 days without pay, a day after he was arrested following a dispute with his wife at a Manhattan hotel. The suspension was for missing Saturday’s game without permission, the club said.

* Oakland 5, at Tampa Bay 3: Nick Swisher chased Edwin Jackson with a one-out homer in the seventh, giving the A’s a 4-3 lead. Swisher hit a 1-2 pitch an estimated 445 feet to right. “I knew he was sitting on a slider, but I wouldn’t change that pitch,” Jackson said. “I just didn’t execute what I wanted to do. It was right there in his power zone.”

* Boston 4, at Minnesota 3: Curt Schilling said he was eyeing his first complete game in 58 starts before running into trouble in the seventh. Jason Tyner chased him with a two-run single with two out. “I let it get away at that point and that’s the part I’m upset about,” he said. “I spent 6 2/3 innings focusing pitch to pitch. ... I let it slip.” The Twins put catcher Joe Mauer, who has a strained left quadriceps, on the 15-day disabled list.

* Cleveland 9, at Baltimore 6: Trot Nixon played in 982 games with the Red Sox without getting five hits in a game. In his 22nd game with the Indians, he went five for five, drove in four runs and raised his batting average from .271 to .320.

* Detroit 13, at Kansas City 4: Craig Monroe, Curtis Granderson and Gary Sheffield hit two-run homers in the second inning to lead the Tigers to their seventh win in a row.

* Chicago 4, at Angels 3 (10 innings): A.J. Pierzynski tied the score with a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the eighth inning, then singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th.
