Update -- In their first game since the sudden retirement of forward Chamique Holdsclaw, the Sparks play a team reeling more than they are. Winless Houston has been without its star player, three-time league MVP Sheryl Swoopes, for much of the year. She has played only three games -- averaging 7.7 points and 5.7 rebounds -- because of a back injury. The game marks the return of Houston Coach Karleen Thompson, who posted an 11-3 record as the Sparks’ interim coach in 2004.
