* at Philadelphia 10, St. Louis 4: Cole Hamels (11-4) joined the Cubs’ Carlos Zambrano as the league’s only 11-game winners. He also overtook the Padres’ Jake Peavy for the league’s strikeout lead (126-125), but he had only two and gave up four runs in six innings.
* at Milwaukee 2, Colorado 1 (10 innings): Pinch-hitter Tony Graffanino’s bloop single scored Geoff Jenkins from third base with one out in the 10th. The Brewers won despite losing All-Star right-hander Ben Sheets after 3 1/3 innings because of a sprained middle finger on his pitching hand.
* at Chicago 9, Houston 3: Ted Lilly, who hasn’t lost since June 5, gave up four hits and a run over eight innings to help the Cubs win for the 14th time in 18 games. He also had a run-scoring single for his third major league RBI.
* at Arizona 5, San Diego 4: Chad Tracy singled home the winning run in the eighth inning. The Diamondbacks had managed one run and two hits against Chris Young, who left after six innings.
* at Atlanta 5, Pittsburgh 4: Jeff Francoeur hit a bases-loaded single with two out in the ninth inning.
* at Florida 5, Washington 2: The Marlins scored all their runs on homers by Miguel Cabrera, Jeremy Hermida and Josh Willingham.
* at New York 2, Cincinnati 1: Tom Glavine earned his 298th win with a solid performance.
* Dodgers 8, at San Francisco 7 (12 innings): The Dodgers rallied after blowing leads of 6-0 and 7-2.
