Second arrest is made in shooting death of boy

Authorities have arrested a second man in connection with a freeway shooting last month that left a 12-year-old boy dead.
Luis Chavira, 23, was arrested Friday on suspicion of killing Gabriel Garcia. Chavira was linked to the crime by evidence recovered from a white Ford Explorer whose passengers allegedly fired the shots that killed Gabriel, authorities said.
Pedro Escobedo, 43, the driver of the Explorer, turned himself in three days after the Dec. 11 shooting on Interstate 15 near Devore. He pleaded not guilty to felony murder charges.
A man in the vehicle with Gabriel said the shooting followed a botched immigrant smuggling operation, authorities said.
