Woman sentenced in attempt to kill children

The wife of a Lutheran minister was sentenced Monday to five years’ probation for attempting to drown her two children during a bout of depression. The judge ordered her to get medical help.
Kristen Kaye Lawson, 31, said she started to drown her 6-year-old and 5-month-old daughters in the bathtub but stopped once she realized what she was doing.
She is married to Robert Lawson Jr., pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Escondido.
