Turco and Stars stop Coyotes

Goaltender Marty Turco stopped 13 shots in his first shutout of the season and made Brenden Morrow’s power-play goal stand up, giving the Dallas Stars a 1-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night at Glendale, Ariz.
Curtis Joseph made 34 saves for Phoenix to hold up his end of the goalie showdown, but Morrow’s second-period goal was the difference.
Morrow took a pass from Sergei Zubov to the right of the crease and flipped the puck over Joseph’s glove.
Toronto 6, Boston 4 -- Andrew Raycroft made 28 saves at Boston, but he left the Maple Leafs’ victory early because of a groin strain.
Carolina 5, Washington 0 -- Erik Cole scored three goals and Cam Ward posted his first regular-season shutout to lead the Hurricanes to the victory at Raleigh, N.C.
New York Islanders 3, Philadelphia 1 -- Alexei Yashin scored twice and Rick DiPietro stopped 32 shots to lift the Islanders to victory at Philadelphia.
New Jersey 2, Chicago 1 -- Zach Parise and Brian Gionta scored in the shootout to lead the Devils to victory over the Blackhawks at East Rutherford, N.J.
Columbus 4, St. Louis 2 -- Rostislav Klesla scored twice to lead the Blue Jackets past the Blues at St. Louis.
