Antiwar film overlooked

I find it inexplicable that in his list of the best antiwar films (“War on film,” Current, May 7), Richard Schickel did not include Stanley Kubrick’s 1957 black-and-white masterpiece of World War I, “Paths of Glory.” The film contrasts the horror of trench warfare with cynical politicians who consider their stalemated soldiers cowards. It is a very powerful statement against war.
