* Cablevision Systems Corp. said its first-quarter loss narrowed as phone and Internet services helped add more subscribers. The net loss was $58.9 million, or 21 cents a share, compared with a loss of $118.9 million, or 41 cents, a year earlier, Bethpage, N.Y.-based Cablevision said. Sales increased 16% to $1.41 billion.

* Dynegy Inc., owner of power plants in 11 U.S. states, reported first-quarter net income of $1 million contrasted with a loss of $262 million a year earlier when it had costs for a legal settlement and restructuring a contract. The per-share net loss narrowed to 1 cent after payment of preferred dividends from 70 cents in the first quarter of 2005, Houston-based Dynegy said. Sales rose 30% to $600 million.
