Peacekeepers Need Help, U.N. Official Declares

The 7,000-strong African Union peacekeeping force in Darfur requires urgent and effective support from the United Nations to prevent a new round of fighting later this year, AU and U.N. officials said.
“There is a risk of major violence,” the United Nations’ peacekeeping chief, Jean-Marie Guehenno, said at the end of an assessment mission to Darfur.
