Oracle Acquires Maker of Billing Software

Oracle Corp. gained control of Portal Software Inc. after shareholders with 74% of the company’s stock accepted its $220-million takeover bid.

About 32 million Portal shares were tendered in the offer that expired at midnight, Oracle said. For a third time, the company extended its offer of $4.90 a share. It now expires June 30.

Portal makes customer billing software for media and telephone companies.
