at Oakland 7, Texas 6: The Athletics rallied from a 4-0 deficit and benefited from a game-ending interference call against batter Mark DeRosa on catcher Jason Kendall to extend their winning streak to six.
at Seattle 5, Tampa Bay 1: Richie Sexson hit his fourth grand slam of the season in the 10th inning. It was Sexson’s 25th homer and 13th career grand slam.
at Kansas City 6, Boston 4: Luke Hudson (5-4) won his fifth decision in a row and Emil Brown had three runs batted in for the Royals. David Ortiz hit his major league-leading 41st homer and 1,000th career hit for the Red Sox. Boston lost its third in a row and dropped to 6-10 since July 22.
Minnesota 4, at Detroit 2: Brad Radke (11-8) won for the seventh time in eight decisions and the Twins stopped the Tigers’ four-game winning streak. Minnesota has won five of six.
Baltimore 8, at Toronto 4: Nick Markakis homered and had a career-high four runs batted in for the Orioles. Daniel Cabrera (5-7) got his first major league win since June 10 and Miguel Tejada also homered for the Orioles, who sent Toronto to its 11th loss in 15 games.
