With the Lakers, It’s Still All About Kobe

Mike Bresnahan had an amusing sentence in his story after the Lakers’ recent loss to Phoenix: He wrote, “Kobe Bryant had 51 points and little help from anyone besides Lamar Odom.”
Before writing that silly sentence, did Bresnahan consider that Kobe doesn’t want help from anyone else?

I get a kick out of Kobe fans twisting themselves into pretzels, trying to explain why Bryant should be MVP. A player is best judged by how well he raises the level of play around him. Kobe has not done that to any degree. In fact, all of the players around him have done better in other surroundings.
It must be hard to play with someone who wants to be the best player of all time. Kobe fans got what they wanted -- the highest-scoring player on a team going nowhere.
