The chief of the United Nations refugee agency said an attack on a camp for displaced people in Sudan’s Darfur region had reportedly killed 29 people.
Antonio Guterres cited aid workers’ reports of the attack at Aro Sharrow. The reports said up to 300 armed Arab men on horses and camels attacked the camp in northwestern Darfur and burned about 80 makeshift shelters.
Between 4,000 and 5,000 people were believed to be in the camp, and most reportedly fled into the countryside.
