Fractured Rib Stops Ozolinsh

Perhaps looking at it as sort of a jinx, Mighty Duck Coach Randy Carlyle didn’t want to talk about his team going through training camp without any significant injuries as the regular season approached.
The injury bug waited until the regular season to arrive. Defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh has a fractured rib -- suffered Sunday against the Phoenix Coyotes -- and tried to play through the pain Tuesday against the Kings before sitting out Wednesday night’s victory over the Calgary Flames.
At the moment, there is no timetable on his return, Carlyle said.

Carlyle expressed genuine surprise when he learned of his fine levied by the NHL on Wednesday for comments he made about the officiating last Friday in a loss to Detroit. He said the fine was a “substantial amount” but didn’t elaborate.
Among his comments about that loss: : “I guess the Detroit Red Wings get those calls in their building.”
“I apologize if I offended or brought embarrassment to the league with those comments,” Carlyle said. “I never thought of that being an issue but obviously I have to control my emotions in those situations.”
