Date’s anxiety had no place in the column

Cindy Chang’s review of Leimert Park [“Feeling the Pulse of a Neighborhood,” Nov. 3] left me feeling like I had just received a U.S. Department of State travel warning rather than a positive evaluation of retail and dining establishments. No one in their right mind would patronize a restaurant in an area where a writer has characterized it as a place where one is “feeling a physical threat real or imagined.”
Even though Ms. Chang was expressing the paranoia of her date, she was guilty of aiding and abetting by incorporating his anxiety into the review. The L.A. Times owes M&M; Soulfood Restaurant and the Leimert Park residents an apology.
