Five Militants Convicted; Two Suspects Freed

A Paris court sentenced five Islamic militants to jail terms for associating with “a terrorist enterprise” and gave them terms from two to seven years. Two suspects were acquitted.
Two of those convicted, Adel Tebourski and Youssef el Aouni, were found guilty of providing logistical support to the assassins of anti-Taliban commander Ahmed Shah Masoud in Afghanistan.
He was killed two days before the Sept. 11 attacks.
