CNOOC’s Threat Already Reality

So, if the sale of Unocal to the Chinese government-controlled CNOOC is not permitted, “Chinese companies will despise the Western game rules” (“Chinese CEO Defends Oil Bid as U.S.-Style,” July 4).

Oh, please. They already despise the game rules: from stealing intellectual property created by our country to manipulating their currency to maintain a huge imbalance of trade. Only the most naive could believe otherwise.
