Suspect in May Killing Pleads Not Guilty

A murder charge was filed Friday against Justin Daniel Kirk, 23, in the May 29 shooting death of Robert Moises Durazo at the Rancho Mirage Hilton Garden Inn. Kirk pleaded not guilty in Riverside County Superior Court.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has named Kirk as a suspect in the strangulation slaying of Loma Linda nurse Lynne Lesley Gross, found dead in her kitchen June 10.
Kirk has been jailed in Indio since June 16, when officers say he fired shots at them during a high-speed chase from Palm Springs to Cabazon on Interstate 10, forcing a 12-hour freeway closure.
