A Muslim chaplain imprisoned as part of an investigation of a possible espionage ring at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has received an honorable discharge.
Although Army Capt. James Y. Yee was cleared in the investigation, he resigned his commission, saying Pentagon officials never apologized to him.
“As a West Point graduate, he leaves the Army with great sadness,” said his civilian defense attorney Eugene R. Fidell. “The fact that he was imprisoned for a prolonged period for no valid reason remains indefensible.”
