Bill Rauch to exit Cornerstone

Bill Rauch, co-founder of Cornerstone Theater and its longtime artistic director, will leave his job in March 2006 -- about three months shy of the L.A.-based company’s 20th anniversary.

“Twenty years seems like a good chunk of life,” Rauch said, adding that he has “curiosity about other professional adventures.” Although he doesn’t have another permanent job lined up, Rauch recently directed his first TV series episode, a “Judging Amy” that’s expected to air in March. He is currently in Oregon staging a new Robert Schenkkan play.

Although he might direct more TV, he said he has “no intention of leaving theater behind for television.” He will direct two more Cornerstone shows prior to his departure and will return to stage the company’s collaboration with the Guthrie Theater in Minnesota in the 2006-07 season.
