Terrorism Suspect Says He Was Just a Tourist
- Share via
An alleged Al Qaeda militant who videotaped the World Trade Center and other U.S. landmarks in 1997 told a court that he took the pictures as a tourist making his first visit to a country he loved, not as a Sept. 11 conspirator.
Ghasoub Abrash Ghalyoun, 39, a Syrian-born Spanish citizen, also said he did not remember telling police that a fellow defendant was a radical Muslim who recruited men for “holy war” training in Afghanistan.
A three-judge panel is trying Ghalyoun and 23 other suspects.
Ghalyoun denied passing the videos to anyone or copying them.
