Ducks to Interview Lombardi

Dean Lombardi, former San Jose Shark general manager, will interview for the Mighty Ducks’ general manager vacancy, a hockey source said Friday.
Representatives of Henry and Susan Samueli, who have agreed to buy the team from the Walt Disney Co., asked permission to speak with Lombardi from Philadelphia General Manager Bobby Clarke.
Lombardi is currently a scout with the Flyers.
Mike Smith, former Chicago general manager, and Brian Burke, former Vancouver general manager, have already been interviewed for the vacancy.
Lombardi spent seven seasons with San Jose, during which the Sharks’ record improved for six consecutive seasons, ending with a Pacific Division title in 2001-02.
The Samuelis are expected to complete the sale with Disney this month and are awaiting approval by NHL owners.
