Thai police said they were hunting a fellow officer after he was accused of shooting dead a British couple near the famed “Bridge on the River Kwai” built by Allied prisoners of the Japanese in World War II.
The couple got into a noisy argument at a restaurant owned by Det. Sgt. Somchai Visetsingha near Kanchanaburi, a senior police officer said.
Somchai tried to mediate, then got into an argument with the couple himself and later killed them, the senior officer said. The couple’s identities were not released.
