Protest Planned Against Proposed Dorm Project

Opponents of a proposed 600-bed dormitory complex for Stanford University graduate students plan to demonstrate this week against the project.
The complex of three buildings -- four to five stories high with an underground 750-space parking garage -- would displace a campus bicycle shop and historic houses now used for office space.
The protest is scheduled for Tuesday.
“It’s going to be darkness personified,” said Lorrin Koran, a psychiatry professor who owns a home on campus two blocks from the project site.
“It’s going to be an eyesore for decades to come.”
