The state has awarded $1.15 million to pay for 15 apartments in Norwalk for homeless adults with mental illness, officials said Friday.
The money from California’s Department of Housing and Community Development is part of more than $12.2 million given statewide to fund construction or rehabilitation of 196 apartments that will house at least 250 people who are disabled and homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.
In Norwalk, the apartments will be located in a former administration building on the grounds of Metropolitan State Hospital.
