BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
* Robert Pate and Ramsey Darling, Chatsworth: Each had 15 kills, Colin Parker had 52 assists and Jeff Grella had 11 kills for the No. 6 Chancellors in a 21-25, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, 15-9 semifinal victory over visiting Venice in the championship division of the City Section playoffs.
* Ralph Johnson and Farid Saffari, L.A. University: Johnson had 25 kills, Saffari had 63 assists and Emilio Alvarado had 22 digs for the host Wildcats in a 19-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-19, 15-11 semifinal victory over Granada Hills in the championship division of the City Section playoffs.
BASEBALL
* Trevor Plouffe, Encino Crespi: Pitched a no-hitter, striking out 13, and Michael Gilmartin hit the go-ahead solo home run in the third inning for the No. 4 Celts in a 4-2 Mission League victory over Mission Hills Alemany, which scored two unearned runs.
* Anthony Arreola, Santa Monica: Had a three-run double in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score and scored the winning run on a single by Kyle Johnson for the host Vikings in a 7-6 Bay League upset of No. 25 West Torrance.
* Michael Miller, Mission Viejo: Was two for three, including a home run, with two runs batted in and three runs scored for the No. 14 Diablos in a 10-7 South Coast League victory over Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills.
SOFTBALL
* Ashley Esparza, San Pedro: Pitched a perfect game with 17 strikeouts, a personal best, and was three for three for the No. 11-ranked, No. 1-seeded Pirates in a 3-0 first-round victory over Palisades in the City Section playoffs.
* Christina Guillen, Chino Don Lugo: Hit a two-run home run, and pinch-runner Sam Collaso scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning for the No. 10 Conquistadores in a 3-2 Mt. Baldy League victory over visiting No. 15 Pomona Diamond Ranch.
* Kristen Aufdenberg and Heather Slettvet, Anaheim Canyon: Aufdenberg had a two-run triple and a double, and Slettvet struck out six and gave up one hit in four innings for the No. 5 Comanches in a 5-0 Century League over visiting No. 22 Orange El Modena.
* Danielle Maricle, Valencia: Hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth, and Courtney Baughman threw a four-hitter with nine strikeouts for the No. 13-ranked Vikings in a 6-0 Foothill League victory at Burbank Burroughs.
* Lauren Greer, Santa Ana Mater Dei: Had two hits, two runs scored and one run batted in, and Ashley Weber was three for three with one run batted in for the No. 3 Monarchs in a 7-0 Serra League victory at Lakewood St. Joseph.
* Amanda Myers, Riverside Poly: Hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, and Chelsea Arellano struck out seven over seven innings for the No. 8-ranked Bears in a 7-0 Ivy League victory over visiting Riverside Arlington.
