One of two cars that collided in a Van Nuys intersection Friday careened across a sidewalk, killing a boy and injuring his mother and brother, a city fire official said.
The accident was reported at 5:06 p.m. in the 6500 block of Woodman Avenue, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
A northbound car and a southbound car on Woodman collided at Kittridge Street, and one went onto the sidewalk.
The boy died at the scene, and his brother and mother were hospitalized. Their conditions weren’t available.
Bystanders helped extinguish a small fire in one of the cars.
