Praise for the solo getaway

Although it would not be my choice of getaway, I much appreciated Chris Rubin’s feature, “To Enjoy Burbank, Open Wide and Say, ‘Ah-Ha’, “ [Weekend Escape, March 14]. It’s a positive acknowledgment that, whether by preference or default, many people take and enjoy solo vacations.
It’s a welcome counterpoint to your recent section on cruises, an industry that effectively bars solo travelers by making them pay an outrageous supplement or share accommodations with a stranger.
