Bush Economic Policy, as It Bears on One Job
- Share via
President Bush’s economic recovery plan is finally reaching down to small businesses along with the giants of the business world. True story: Our small Redondo Beach-based company recently lost our administrative assistant. We placed an employment ad in the newspaper and in the first two days received 65 responses, many from male college graduates with business or technical degrees who had been out of work for over a year -- some living as far away as Palmdale.
What really surprised us was that these applicants were willing to work for a salary far lower than what we have been paying for the last 11 years. So, we’d like to thank Bush. Although our business over the last three years has suffered because of the Bush administration’s efforts, our labor costs will be going down ... so our unprofitability will not be as unprofitable.
P.S. We’ll soon consider exporting this job to India or China, as we understand the president believes that this, too, in the long run, will help our economy and our country.
