Can a classic get any better?

Cinephiles await the remake with trepidation, but even if Jonathan Demme makes hash of it, nothing can sully the reputation of the original “Manchurian Candidate.” John Frankenheimer’s 1962 Cold War thriller still resonates. Frank Sinatra plays a U.S. Army officer investigating a former war buddy-turned-Medal of Honor recipient and the sinister memories of their shared experiences in Korea. Sinatra worried that the film influenced Lee Harvey Oswald and had it pulled from circulation for more than 20 years.
