Councilman Asks U.S. to Pay for Orange Alert

Saying Los Angeles may not be able to afford future terror alerts, City Councilman Jack Weiss called on the federal government Friday to reimburse cities for the costs of orange alerts.
“Local governments may be forced to reduce the level of response because we simply can’t afford it,” Weiss said. He noted that the latest orange alert declared Dec. 21, had cost the city as much as $4.5 million.
