Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A man and woman were found dead in a Newport Beach apartment Wednesday after one sent a text message to a friend, police said.
The incident appears to be a murder-suicide, authorities said.
The couple, believed to have been married, were found shot to death in an apartment in the 200 block of Lugonia Street, said Newport Beach Police Sgt. Steve Shulman.
“We believe a friend of the female received a text message that caused enough concern for that person to call the Police Department,” Shulman said.
Police found a handgun at the scene but declined to say who had shot whom.
