Separatist Province Agrees to a Truce

Georgia and its separatist province of South Ossetia agreed to a cease-fire, Deputy Security Minister Gigi Ugulava said, hoping to reverse an escalation of the dispute over the region’s status.
The region’s leader, Eduard Kokoity, signed the cease-fire in South Ossetia’s capital, Tskhinvali, Ugulava said, after two days of fighting culminated in Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania’s convoy coming under fire.
