It’s about the bass

My wife wanted something to do on a Sunday afternoon, so she got us tickets to see Debbie Reynolds at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts. The opening act for Ms. Reynolds included a woman bass player.
I am so glad that your story on Jennifer Leitham (“Going Solo in a Man’s World,” by Lynell George, Aug. 31) ran the week after I saw her perform. If I knew her story beforehand, I probably would have been hung up by the sex-change operation. But I heard her without any preconceived ideas, and I can enjoy future performances without getting hung up in her story. I hope people will accept her for what she is -- a good bass player.
