THE TYPE
Jason White, QB, Oklahoma
White is the guiding force behind the nation’s clear-cut best team and his efficient performances -- he passed for 290 yards and four touchdowns Saturday, completing 17 of 21 attempts -- are beginning to add up to a stellar season. White’s 20 touchdowns and only three interceptions prove his consistency.
THE HYPE
Walter Reyes, RB, Syracuse
Being the nation’s leading rusher brought the inevitable comparisons to former Syracuse greats Jim Brown and Ernie Davis. Being Maurice Clarett’s cousin inflated his reputation to Carmelo Anthony proportions. Rushing for 40 yards in 16 carries against Virginia Tech booted Reyes from the race.
