City Council Oks Regional Mall Plan

The Simi Valley City Council has approved a $300-million development that would include an upscale regional shopping mall and luxury housing.
The council voted 4 to 0 for the project. Councilwoman Barbra Williamson was absent but would have been unable to vote on the development because she lives near the project site.
The Simi Valley Town Center would be built on 129 acres north of the 118 Freeway between 1st Street and Erringer Road.
Construction on the mall is expected to start early next year, said Mayor Bill Davis.
The first phase is expected to open by October 2005.
