Suit Takes Issue With Dogs Running Loose

The city is being sued over dogs running loose in the city’s only unofficial dog park.
A neighborhood group called Lighthouse Field Beach Rescue filed the lawsuit on Thursday, saying it is worried the city has not tried to measure the impact of dogs running off leashes, including “noise, aggressive dogs, health and safety, impacts to the riparian habitat, impacts to native grasses, interference with migratory birds,” along with the presence of dog droppings and related problems.
The group insists that dogs cannot legally run loose at Lighthouse Field and the nearby beach until the city submits an environmental impact report.
